I have to say that one of my FAVORITE places to go in the world is not really incredibly special, different, spectacular, or known for anything.
I guess it is special in my eyes, it is different in its style of people, and it is known for its cuisine...
Prince Edward Island, One of my absolute favorite places in the entire world. It is the smallest of all the provinces, and is connected by land simply by one of the longest bridges in the world, the Confederation Bridge (or as aptly named by locals, "the link"). It is one of the largest producers of potatoes, considering its small size, and the dirt is red, a beautius dark red.
Winters are mild, with lots of snow, but lots of melting and nice days as well. In the winter, everything is much quieter, running very slowly... but come spring and summer, just like the maple sap, things start to pick up. Prince Edward Island is quite the tourist destination. Not only because it has so much to offer in its quaint bed and breakfasts, small locally owned inns, and specialty shops. But because it is the homeland of the one and only Anne of Green Gables, Cows IceCream, and Paderno.
If your up for shopping, there are many locally owned and run clothing, soap, specialty product, and fishing shops.

If you want something a little more entertaining there is much night life, The Confederation Arts Center usually has something going on, but so will the musical theater in Summerside, and of course you could always catch the origional Broadway play "Anne of Green Gables", or you could also go to the sequal, which I must say was VERY well put together.
If your more of a sports fan, well go this summer. The University of Prince Edward Island is hosting the Canadian summer games! Or you could play a few rounds of golf on world class courses.
If youre one for food dont fret you can eat just about anything your heart desires, whether it be seafood cuisine, or something a little quicker, I can promise you will not be dissapointed.
In short, not only is it filled with beauty, and absolutely wonderful and hospitible people, but im sure you can find something for anyone to do here.
